After finding one another amongst the many local Irish sessions and forging fast friendships, Heather Lewin-Tiarks, Amy Richter, and Jeff Ksiazek have joined together as Milwaukee's latest Irish Trad band, athas. The name athas (Irish for joy and gladness) suits them perfectly--it's pretty near impossible to catch them not laughing, joking, or spreading joy through their music.
The musicians of athas play various Traditional and non-Trad instruments such as fiddle, flute, bodhran, viola, cello, whistles, saxophone, djembe, and guitar. The group draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including Comas, Danu, Teada, Flook, Lunasa, Liz Carroll, Jackie Moran, Emer Mayock, and Mike Rafferty.
